Mark S. Hemstreet, Founder and Owner of Shilo Inns, learned a lot about the hospitality business from his mother and father. He demonstrated his entrepreneurial abilities at the age of 16 as summer manager of a small motel. He cultivated an early vision of developing the best independent hotel/motel/resort chain in the Pacific Northwest. The results of that experience, and dream, culminated in his officially opening the first Shilo Inn at age 24, in 1974.
